Technical Writer – Jeffrey Biss
Jeff is a degreed Electrical Engineer with many years’ experience in the Aerospace, Industrial Transmission, Medical Technology and other fields. With a strong background in electronics and software documentation, Jeff is also adept at understanding mechanical products and creates documentation and graphics in both areas. He works with solid models and creates illustrations from client-supplied files as needed.
Technical Writer – Stephen Faulkner
Steve was a senior technical writer for Barber-Colman Company’s Aerospace and Power Controls Division (now GE Aviation) prior to joining Tra-Doc Communications. He prepared overhaul/repair manuals from preliminary outlines to completion, for electromechanical and electronic aircraft products, written to both commercial and military specifications. After finishing his bachelor’s degree in technical writing, Steve completed 16 credits of digital electronics and microprocessor coursework and an Electronic Engineering Technology program.
Technical Writer, Trainer and Instructional Designer – Joseph Ferguson
Joe is a technical writer and instructional designer who created hydraulic and electrical training programs for entry-level technicians in both the construction and agricultural divisions of (J.I.) Case Corporation. He created a “Master Service Technician” program for Briggs & Stratton’s service training department and produced a series of service training videos for Harley-Davidson.
Technical Writer – Rebecca Marco
Rebecca is an award winning technical writer, editor, and project manager with over 25 years of experience in the technical publications field. She has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, specializing in the documentation of electronic products and systems.
Video Producer, Script and Copywriter –John Bishoff
John worked for Sundstrand Corporation for 20 years as a technical scriptwriter and video producer. He has produced marketing, theory of operation, maintenance and overhaul procedure videos for airlines, aerospace manufacturers and the Air Force. He produces our video training programs and also has extensive experience in corporate capabilities videos, political spots and television commercials for local, national and international audiences.
Illustration, Graphic Design, QC and Desktop Publishing
Lead Technical Illustrator – David Ulma
Dave has over 20 years experience as an illustrator, working on a variety of PC based illustration programs, mainframe CAD systems, and a UNIX based Tri-Vector illustration program. He spent nearly 7 years with (J.I.) Case Corporation, specializing in isometric exploded view drawings of construction equipment, prior to starting work for us at the very beginning. Dave is able to create complex artwork from photographs or the product alone.
Technical Illustrator, Graphic Designer and Desktop Publishing Specialist –Melanie Anderson
Melanie has an eye for detail and a passion for “getting the job done right”. She specializes in graphics and layout work for brochures, newsletters and other collateral materials using Macintosh hardware and software.
Technical Illustrator – Rick Bender
Rick was a key member of the Emerging Technologies Department at Beloit Corporation where he researched and utilized the latest graphic, technical illustration and multi-media software, creating isometric exploded views, animations, renderings and solid models.
Reliability, Maintainability, and System Safety Engineering
Reliability Engineer (Mechanical) – Bill Carpenter
Bill is highly experienced with mechanical/hydraulic aerospace actuation and other systems, working over 30 years at Sundstrand where he trained their other Reliability engineers. He has taught college courses in reliability and advanced statistics. Bill retired from Sundstrand Aerospace with 29 years of service in Quality Control, Reliability, Maintainability, and Safety Engineering. His final position was Manager of Integrated Logistics Support. Our clients have raved about his knowledge and they really enjoy working with him.
Reliability Engineer (Electrical) – David Marciniak
Dave completed Reliability, Maintainability, and System Safety projects at Hamilton Sundstrand before joining Tra-Doc Communications’ team. He performs detailed circuit and system level FMEAs and FMECAs, reliability predictions and fault tree analyses for commercial and military electrical systems and complex electronic controls.
Reliability Engineer (Mechanical) – John Nonneman
John has 30 years experience in mechanical Reliability and Maintainability work, primarily at Hamilton Sundstrand before joining the Tra-Doc team last year. He has completed Reliability and Safety Reports containing piece part predictions, FMEAs, FMECAs and Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs). John has even designed and uses his own fault tree analysis software.
Computer/Web Based Training & Windows Help Specialist – Ken Buseman
Ken has over 20 years experience in computer and web based training, having worked for companies like Ameritech, Amoco and Sears. Ken has created software documentation and worked as a senior systems programming analyst. He earned his BS degree in Computer Science with a Minor in Mathematics, and his MBA in Information Systems.
Over 300 certified translators from around the world who are native speakers of the translated language with expertise in a variety of industries are available through Tra-Doc Communications. We translate and reformat technical manuals, brochures, catalogs, other collateral materials and videos.
Project Manager, Editor and Quality Control – Larry Runestad Larry is the owner of Tra-Doc Communications, with over 25 years experience in the technical communications business. He was vice-president of Sullivan Communications in Mt. Prospect, IL managing the technical communications division prior to starting this company in 1995. He also has 10 years experience in industrial sales, customer service and management with Rockford Products Corporation, serving Briggs & Stratton, Caterpillar, General Electric, John Deere, OMC and other major manufacturing companies.
